A major battery manufacturer was expanding its U.S. operations, and its network could not go down. However, its past vendor had overlooked redundancy, battery backup, wireless design and routing. So Weaver designed a battery manufacturer RUCKUS network and worked alongside the in-house team to deliver it.
The challenge: an expansion that depended on uptime
The company is a major battery manufacturer with plants in several countries, including the United States and China. It also has offices across the U.S.
As the manufacturer expanded its U.S. operations, one requirement rose to the top: a network with 99.999% uptime. To get there, it needed a partner that could augment its in-house IT team. Its previous vendor had overlooked key areas, such as redundancy, battery backups, wireless design and routing.
Our approach to a battery manufacturer RUCKUS network
The relationship started with a cold call. Still, it quickly turned into a real conversation about technology needs. Weaver asked about redundancy, battery backups, wireless design and routing, the areas the past vendor had skipped. That depth built trust from the start.
Next, we chose RUCKUS Networks as the core of the design. Its cloud-connected Wi-Fi and cloud-managed switching fit the plant’s needs, and both can scale as the business grows. Because of our close RUCKUS partnership, we also had direct access to premium resources. As a result, we could fine-tune the battery manufacturer RUCKUS network to the client’s goals.
What Weaver delivered
- RUCKUS cloud-connected Wi-Fi. We designed wireless for continuous connectivity across the manufacturing environment.
- RUCKUS cloud-managed switching. Cloud management gives the network room to grow with the business.
- Redundancy and power planning. We planned for redundancy and battery backups, two areas the uptime goal depends on.
- Wireless design and routing. We designed wireless coverage and routing, which the previous vendor had overlooked.
- Team augmentation. We worked alongside the in-house IT team from design through deployment.

Results: a stable RUCKUS network for the battery manufacturer
Planning and design took one month. However, pandemic supply chain disruptions meant hardware procurement and deployment needed five months. Weaver stayed patient and kept the project moving through those delays.
After go-live, the manufacturer saw immediate gains in network stability. Today, the battery manufacturer RUCKUS network is positioned for consistent, long-term reliability. Uptime is the main measure of success for now. That measure will also expand as the system moves into full production.
A common challenge in manufacturing
As manufacturers expand production, the network becomes as critical as any machine on the floor. Yet redundancy, power backup and wireless design are easy to overlook until they fail. Getting them right up front is what keeps uptime targets realistic. Cloud-managed gear from RUCKUS Networks also makes it easier for a lean team to see and manage every site.
