A Central Texas machine components maker had no IT department, and every employee computer ran on the owner’s personal Microsoft account. So Weaver stepped in as the manufacturer’s managed IT partner. We set up proper Microsoft 365 accounts and upgraded its Dell desktops and laptops.

The challenge: no IT department, and one account on every computer

The company is a Central Texas manufacturer that makes machine components. It has a reputation for precision and quality in producing essential parts for a range of industries.

However, the company had no IT department, and it needed cost-effective support. Every employee computer also ran on the owner’s personal Microsoft account. That created real security and management problems. In addition, the team needed help with Microsoft 365 user accounts. Its Dell desktops and laptops were also due for upgrades.

Our approach to manufacturer managed IT

Weaver came recommended through a word-of-mouth referral. First, a Weaver representative visited the site to learn how the shop works and talk through managed services in person.

Next, we proposed a plan built around those real needs, not a product list. It also came in at a lower cost than the quotes the company had received before. As a result, Weaver became the manufacturer’s managed IT partner. Then we planned the work around production, so the shop kept running throughout.

What Weaver delivered

  • Account separation. We removed the owner’s personal Microsoft account from every employee computer.
  • Individual Microsoft 365 accounts. We set up each user properly, with the right security in place.
  • Managed Microsoft 365 users. We now manage user accounts, so the company does not need its own IT department.
  • Dell desktop and laptop upgrades. We upgraded the devices and set each one up securely for its user.
  • A smooth transition. We worked closely with the team to keep downtime and disruption low.

Results: secure, manufacturer managed IT that just works

Today, the manufacturer has a secure and efficiently managed IT environment. Each employee now has a properly configured account instead of sharing the owner’s personal login.

Weaver also manages Microsoft 365 users for the company. Meanwhile, the upgraded Dell desktops and laptops deliver better performance on the shop floor and in the office. The company got these improvements right away, at a cost that fits its budget.

A common challenge in manufacturing

Many manufacturers grow without ever building an IT function. Over time, shared logins and personal accounts become the norm. Then security and user management fall through the cracks. Managed services give these companies proper IT without adding headcount. For example, a business plan from Microsoft 365 with one account per person is a simple, strong first step.
