A Texas public university was adding student housing and needed new cabling, switching and wireless across campus before fall. Weaver designed and installed a university RUCKUS network during the summer term. We finished in three months, ready for students to move in.
The challenge: a campus-wide rollout due before fall
The university is a Texas public university. Student housing was growing and digital demands were rising, so the campus needed a fast, scalable network. The university had already finished a core switch upgrade in an earlier project.
Next, it brought in Weaver and RUCKUS to scope and deploy structured cabling, switches and wireless access points across campus. That included newly built student dorms. All of it had to happen during the summer term, with minimal disruption and no surprises. Because the timeline was tight, the university needed an experienced partner it could trust to deliver without cutting corners on reliability.
Our approach to a university RUCKUS network
Weaver led the solution architecture for the whole project. We handled requirements gathering, equipment planning, implementation and fine-tuning. Our own engineers also ran the cabling, switch installation and access point deployment.
Midway through, a firmware upgrade issue came up. So our team worked closely with RUCKUS support and university stakeholders to fix it. As a result, the university RUCKUS network stayed on schedule and met every technical requirement.
What Weaver delivered
- RUCKUS wireless. We installed access points that improved wireless performance across campus, including the new dorms.
- RUCKUS switching. We extended the earlier core switch upgrade out to buildings across campus.
- Structured cabling. Weaver’s own cabling team scoped and installed it.
- Architecture and testing. We designed the network, then tested and tuned it before students arrived.
- Firmware fix. We worked with RUCKUS to resolve a firmware issue without slowing the schedule.

Results: a university RUCKUS network ready for fall
Today, the university has stronger wireless performance across campus. In addition, the new infrastructure in student housing rolled out smoothly. Weaver finished on time to meet the semester deadline, and the network was fully ready when students arrived.
The university also shared that it was very happy with the Weaver cabling and network deployment teams. It had worked with Weaver on past infrastructure projects, and it came back because of consistent execution and accurate scoping.
A common challenge in higher education
Campus network work usually has to fit into the summer break. New buildings add scope that has to be ready on the same day as everything else, too. For that reason, accurate scoping and one accountable team make that short window workable. A university RUCKUS network from RUCKUS Networks, installed on new structured cabling, gives a campus a solid base to grow on.
