A global financial software company needed two new data centers in the United States and two in the United Kingdom. So Weaver delivered the global data center deployment, configuring Dell server and storage hardware with VMware Cloud Foundation and NSX. All four sites came online in five weeks.

The challenge: four new data centers on two continents

The company is a global financial software provider that helps finance and accounting teams work more efficiently. It has offices in many countries and supports a large, diverse client base.

To stay ahead in its industry, the company set out to upgrade its data center infrastructure. The goal was clear. It wanted two new data centers in the United States and two in the United Kingdom, with new server and storage hardware running VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and NSX. A project of that size called for a partner with real deployment expertise and global reach.

Our approach to a global data center deployment

The company chose Weaver for its global presence and its ability to manage complex deployments efficiently. First, Weaver partnered with the Dell Technologies pre-sales team to tailor deployment services to the company’s needs.

Next, we tied those services directly to the company’s Dell hardware purchase. As a result, the global data center deployment ran as one streamlined process from order to operation, not a separate project. That approach also kept potential downtime to a minimum.

What Weaver delivered

  • Dell server and storage. We deployed new Dell hardware across all four data centers.
  • VMware Cloud Foundation. We configured VCF on the new hardware, tuned for performance and efficiency.
  • VMware NSX. We set up network and security virtualization to the company’s requirements.
  • Dell ProDeploy coordination. Our services team worked with Dell ProDeploy to keep every step smooth.
  • Schedule management. We kept the full project on a five-week plan from start to finish.

Results: a global data center deployment, on time

With a clear plan in place, the work took five weeks. The company’s new data centers came online within the set timelines. In addition, the company saw an immediate boost in efficiency and performance.

Over time, the upgrades also lead to a lower total cost of ownership and more resource-efficient operations. Today, the company can focus on its core business, backed by robust, reliable infrastructure in both countries.

A common challenge for global software companies

Companies that serve clients worldwide often need new capacity in more than one country at once. However, deploying the same way across sites, on a tight schedule, depends as much on planning as on technology. For that reason, a global data center deployment goes faster when services ride along with the hardware order. A consistent private cloud stack from VMware also keeps every site running the same way.
